Judges 19 / Isaiah 41 / 1 John 3-4

"Present your case," says the LORD.
"Set forth your arguments," says Jacob's King.

"Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen."

See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing;
their images are but wind and confusion.

The idols today are the same today as they were then, perhaps different images but the same confusing, powerless nothingness in the form of substance. A grabbing at the wind, pointless exercises that promise certain rewards. Illogical because they follow the same course everything else does that can be held, so should seem to be as powerless as the strong man who soon turns feeble, then melts into the earth as organic matter, unable to do anything about it. The morphine drips for each of them, squirting out a little medicine whenever they need it, which allows them to cope and believe whatever they want to, whatever makes them feel a little better about whatever they want to, for now, until the next time they need it. They also have the ability to reinforce that effect by validating each other, turning on the dripper for the whole crowd who reinforce for each other whatever lie they have chosen to latch onto and been given over to. The humans are always acting fundamentally the same throughout all their generations.

Superficial things change, but the things upon which everything else is built and rest never changes. The real Jesus, whom the humans hated (not loved), was the Father's promise—not for the humans who called themselves Israel but true Israel, not comprised of humans but sons. The head of the sons isn't the made up jesus god who was created by the humans and made into something that they loved and accepted, because he naturally loved and accepted everyone (so the myth goes). Ironically, the words that the myth is based on say something very different about his despised identity than that which was created by the humans for their own benefit (not God's).

Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.

I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people
and a light for the Gentiles,

to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison
and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.

The only ones who will be able to recognize the real Jesus through the confusing haze of lies that exist amongst the humans—all saying something different about him yet all claiming exclusivity about their particular version of the lie they've chosen to hold on to—are those who are called to be able to know, because they are given the ability to see, and know what the words actually say about the real Jesus.

John's disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them, he sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?"

Jesus replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."

Even John may have been mislead by his own version of the expectation he may have had about the Messiah, for whom he paved the path while he was crying in the wilderness. He knew he was that one who was promised by Isaiah, and Jesus is reporting to him that he indeed was the one who John assumed he was, even if he (Jesus) wasn't fulfilling things as everyone expected him to fulfill them. He assured him, as proven by the miracles he was doing because of the Father's life and power living inside him, that he was the One, even if the incredible thing he was doing was hidden and secret, and on the outside he would be appearing as something he didn't expect.

One of the main things to learn from the preserved words is the encapsulation of the genuine message of the Son—not the fairy tale—that he did appear as something totally unexpected by the humans. They expect one thing, then God sends them another in the form they are compelled to despise and reject, not honor and accept. That's because He loves to confound the humans and invalidate their "truth," which is always, and must be always just a lie. God's hidden truth is the only valid truth, and the humans' truth always contradicts God's truth, so He loves to give them the real truth in a totally unexpected form they will be more likely to kill than worship.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.

What does it mean to love our brothers? Who is our brother and what does it take to be able to love him? Why, when we try, does it feel forced and feigned, as though it were quite an impossible thing to genuinely do? First we must know the love of the Father, then come to know what He loves. Then we can love His purpose and desire, when we know what it is. When we know what God loves, and our nature of self-love is replaced with the nature of the sos of God, then we will be able to love our brothers. Until then, because of the compelling nature of the animal that rules us, we're only able to love our own self and purpose because we're driven to satisfy our own desires by claiming our right to have, live and hold on to our own animal existence like all the others.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known.

What is the world, and who are its inhabitants? Is the world some evil place where the bad people are? The world is the world, the present creation that the humans live in and rule, everything visible and tangible to the natural faculties that the humans possess. The world will not know the sons of God because they are hidden and the world of humans operates by what it can observe and judge because it's purely natural, and its inhabitants cannot comprehend the hidden, secret (spiritual) world of God's reality. John was a son of God, specifically chosen by God to be Jesus' disciple, so that he (Jesus) could reveal the Father to him (John). Those to whom John wrote, he recognized were also sons of God. Who wasn't a son of God? Everyone in the world, that is, all the other humans and everything else in the visible, natural, dying creation who hadn't been chosen by God to become sons, to believe in the real Jesus, whose life and power were secret and known only to those in the group. There weren't, at the time he wrote, a thousand different jesus gods, all made up by the humans, and all powerless for all secret purposes. The made up jesuses are for outward purposes for the humans, to be yet another morphine dripper for them to latch onto if they chose to.

"All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it."

John and the other 11 sons spent 3 years living with Jesus, being trained and taught about what was actually real versus what was only the copy of what was real. There's a huge amount of information missing about which we aren't able to read, as the gospel accounts of what Jesus did and said record only the tiniest fraction of everything he told them. They were Jews, so they were familiar with the OT accounts and stories of the law and prophets. Jesus spent a lot of time with them, teaching them what those stories were actually for, what the prophets and kings wanted to see, and what they all pointed to—to serve as copies for these men, so they could become sons and know their real Father through the enlightening interpretation that Jesus provided for them, as the Father had given to him before when he grew up in the world.

Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.

Why did Jesus speak figuratively to them? Because words that come out of human mouths and which are heard by human ears are inadequate to convey the truth about God. God's reality exists as a spiritual (secret, unseen) reality, which is so much higher than what the humans can understand that only stories and metaphors about what it's like could begin to convey to the the disciples (who were still fully human, not transformed) about what the things of God are like. The spiritual world is so unlike the natural that it cannot be comprehended via words like those the humans could understand.

The only way to understand it is by the living word, the voice of the Father who speaks to us in the different place, with unutterable words that cannot be heard by human ears, nor be accept by human minds, who only want to hear what they've already chosen they're willing to accept. The only way for the voice to speak to us is if the life lives in us. The only way for the life of God to live in the body of an unclean animal is if it's being purged of that animal nature, so that the life can actually live there. It's sort of like we would have a hard if not impossible time living in a house filled with the stench and decay of rotting corpses, garbage and raw sewage spewing out onto the floor, which is understandable. We might even say that that's unclean. Same goes for God. The more that the nature which creates the same kind of unclean scenario in us is purged out of us, the more the life can live in us, and the clearer we are able to hear the unhearable voice of the Teacher who wants to lead us in another direction than that we are trying to hold on to thinking it's good (when according to God, it is as graphically described in the previous sentence).

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

This is my command: Love each other.

Since it is God's design that the animals cannot love, the absence of the animal nature equals the ability to love. What is love? It's being concerned for something (God's dilemma, will and purpose) and Someone (God and His family) other than one's self—all that the animal can do. Is it just an arbitrary love? The only reason God allows it to happen to the chosen is so that His purpose can be fulfilled in them, which is to have His family of sons who are actually able to love because they have His nature in them instead of the animal nature, which cannot love. In essence, the sons *are* the will and purpose of God regarding the present creation, because they carry His name.

No longer will there be any (animal) curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

The animals can only ever get a tiny taste of only the copy of love, and then it wears off or changes, or goes away one way or another. In any case it's always temporary, because it's a part of the world and that is the nature of the natural, dying world—temporary.

This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous. Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.

Ultimately it's simple. The sons of God are able to love God and the animals can only ever hate Him (because they can only love their made up gods who can serve them so they're willing to love them back). The object of the sons' love is God, their Father, because they know Him, and the Son who saved them from the animal curse, who is the head of all the sons. They know Him because He is being revealed to them. Before that happens they can't love Him, because they don't know Him. As their Father is revealed to them, so are their true brothers, those who can also hear the unutterable words of God in that secret place.

I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Some 700 years before the new covenant was installed, God started speaking about it and what it would be like. Not about fearfully obeying rules, but about the relationship between the Father and His sons. He takes hold of their right hand and says to them, "Do not fear; I will help you, because I'm your Father and you're my sons." But it wouldn't be the status quo; it would be so totally different that only those who had a special way of being able to comprehend it could. It would be totally abstract and unintelligible to the humans unless they had this secret key that unlocks the secret door about the mysteries of what would be coming as per Jeremiah's vision of what it would be, 600 years before it happened.

I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God (Father), and they will be my people (sons).

God's chosen people Israel versus everyone else in the world is the standard He set and the copy of what was to come. But it's only a copy, and the real thing is not part of this world, nor observable as part of the present creation. The religious guys keep trying to make their search for God's rightness a part of their natural existence, saying they know the way to God. The way to God though is hidden and invisible, disclosed to those chosen to know. There is a secret door that leads to Him and only He issues the key. It's not a random deal; each son is specifically and individually chosen to know Him.

Do not love the world or anything in the world.

If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

The sons learn the distinction between the spiritual order, or the way things are in the place where God exists; and the world, which is the visible, dying creation ruled by the humans, who are in turn ruled by the nature created to keep them away from God. Man's existence is not as an inherently valuable and special creature, but as an animal which controls and rules the present, temporary creation and fully a part of it—truly one with it in every way.

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our animal nature and following its desires and thoughts.

Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

 

God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.

Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

The poor and needy search for water, but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.

I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.

I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together,

so that people may see and know, may consider and understand,
that the hand of the LORD has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
