Joshua 10 / Isaiah 14 / 1 Timothy 6
How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
The irony of this situation is high as the whore of babylon and her daughters, driven by the animal instinct that directly opposes God, use this verse to validate their lie that they are all inherently good and can separate themselves from the evil which comes from an external devil. According to the myth, lucifer the morning star used to be an arch angel but rebelled against God and "fell from heaven," taking one third of the angels with him. They became the devil's evil army, those demons fighting the good gods (father, son, holy spirit gods) and the good angels for the souls of men. This is christianity, which not accidentally resembles the stories of the old gods of the Romans and Greeks that existed as the standing religion of that time to a tee, because the whore was born in a time when these mythical stories about unseen gods were at popular highs.
The humans wanted to make the new religion of christianity, which was spreading rapidly in the second and third centuries, into what was familiar to them. The apostles assigned many of the prophesies in the book of Isaiah to what they knew to be true about the Son of God, who was living in their bodies as the unseen sign that the new covenant predicted by Jeremiah and Isaiah was being instituted and that the spirit was being poured out into them, as per Joel's prophesy.
These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
"In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
The OT prophets played roles in pointing at the coming Son and predicting the new covenant that would emerge from the consequence of his work, and Daniel predicted the demise of it amongst the inhabitants of the earth. Living in Babylon, he told how the new babylon would emerge and take the newer copy of the "Israel of God" into captivity, the same way that natural Babylon (where he was living when he prophesied) took the first copy of the Israel of God (natural Israel) into captivity.
The grave below is all astir
to meet you at your coming;
They will all respond,
they will say to you,
All your pomp has been brought down to the grave,
along with the noise of your harps;
All the kings of the nations lie in state,
each in his own tomb.
The offspring of the wicked will never be mentioned again.
It was the will of man which drove the new mystery babylon the great whore to become so powerful so fast, and so quickly able to consolidate her control and wipe out any competition. It happened the same way that the will of man drove the false shepherds in Israel to abandon the true teaching of the living God given to Moses, to adulterate and turn Israel away from their God and a nation of self-sustained God-haters who didn't know Him. They are of the consummate breed of self-worshipping humans who hide in the lie that they worshipped God. Because their gods are made up by the same humans who control the institution then the gods can be anything they make them, and not accidentally they're always created to serve the humans who control their particular institution because they're always on their side since they're the leaders of the "good people." Then they teach their members that they can be self-worshipping God-haters and at the same time find an agreement amongst themselves, initiated and approved by the "experts," where they can hide from what's true, thinking that they are doing some good work by supporting the leaders who are doing their good works for the good people. So the agreement between themselves and their conspiracy against God is a complete circle, not dissimilar to the original conspiracy between the human, the helper and the animal.
"I will rise up against them,"
declares the LORD Almighty.
"I will turn her into a place for owls
and into swampland;
The LORD Almighty has sworn,
"Surely, as I have planned, so it will be,
In the end it won't matter how much power the humans ever thought they had, because everything goes according to how the only God allows everything to happen, according to His will—the way He wants thing sot be. He creates the obstacles for His sons just as He created them for Job—the satan of the story was an angel, reporting to God—so that the son can overcome the obstacle and be a catalyst in his own process of transformation. The obstacles exist so that the sons will truly have a genuine choice, for the Father or against Him, in which case their learning continues. The sons must be taught and there is nothing else that exists for them other than learning to conform to their new identity as chosen sons of the living God who aren't known or recognized by the humans because they're secret. That phenomenon of the Father choosing His own sons, yet keeping them hidden, goes against everything that's in the human animals to be and aspire to, which is what makes this process so deliciously perfect.
All the garbage and situations that the humans are in, what they spend their lives running after as though they are all so important, are just that—garbage that has no ultimate purpose because they are soon gone and then there's nothing for them to do but decay in their new condition of eternal unconsciousness where they are becoming one with the earth by turning into plant food. In this condition there are no worries or anxieties, no being tortured forever in hell—just a restful state of peaceful nothingness while their bodies contribute something good to the soil so that another can take their place. The poetry in this is that their self-serving animal identity will cease and they will finally become useful to another cause besides their self. They're allowed to be given over to any of the various lies about a made up heaven that will exist where they will be so special to their made up gods, only because of God's mercy, which is like a morphine drip for them to not just speculate about it but as per their craving to hold onto to it, are able to be completely given over to any one of the thousands of lies that are manufactured by the humans about what they will become. The only that is truly certain is that the body ceases to continue, and it's thrown into the ground where is enriches the soil, which in itself is a poetic cycle to which each instance of life is relegated. All the acting that the leaders taught their members to do will be just that consensus they gave to each other, to believe their particular lie and further strengthen the effectiveness of the morphine dripper.
Our purpose certainly isn't to rub their faces in the reality of each one's demise, but to enlighten any who are chosen to the teacher's goal that they break out from the humans and the cycle that each of them are stuck in and comprehend what their Father wants them to know, because the living God works another way with His sons. He is the One who provides validation and consensus to His sons, and He doesn't allow them to find and get it from the humans. That is the process they must be given over to. The sons of God are bound to Him first then each other second, instead of being bound to the dead humans, who are bound to the earth and the rest of the temporary creation via their nature, as the sons were before He revealed Himself to them as their true Father.
When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
This process of finding our validation, agreement and consensus in the new identity as a true son of God is difficult because it's not a natural way to go, so it isn't like anything we would ever choose. It's purposely against any way we're familiar with so that we don't find it on our own, by our own power within our selves. We're never independent, so we cannot stray from our Father, so we're not misled and misguided by the human who only know the lie, not the truth. It cannot be initiated by the son, but only by the will of the Father, so that none of them will be able to boast before Him or each other. The sons are filled with a supernatural humility via this process that cannot be manufactured because it's so utterly genuine—because it comes from above (from the Father), not below (from the conspiracy of lies of the humans who rule the earth, the ground, the grave, sheol, hell).
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Then Joshua struck and killed the kings and hung them on five trees, and they were left hanging on the trees until evening.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Last night (5/23/2005) I looked at the beauteous star formations in a perfect sky and asked God why it all seemed so far away—why the life of the spirit wasn't more tangible and able to be grasped and held onto. Then I knew that it had to be hard so that we could endure, and at the same moment as I thought of the verse about enduring—those who endure he gives the right to become children of God—I saw a rare shooting star, validating what the voice was saying. This kind of phenomenal and miraculous thing becomes commonplace for the sons who hear the secret voice that speaks those unutterable, secret words in the place where only we can understand them. Yet just like the Father, they are secret and hidden except to only those for whom they're intended. As we get older, we're able to hear that voice more and more clearly as we hear and respond to it, conforming to its intention specifically for us. That is the voice of the teacher working on behalf of our Father whose interest lies primarily in our transformation away from what's dead to what's alive, so we can become clean enough to be brought near Him, so that we can become familiar with Him. With familiarity comes the basis for family, which is His purpose for those who are being chosen. Faint as it is because the animal is still so strong inside us, we become gradually able to hear the voice more clearly, as per His desire and purpose for the way He wants things to go with us who must learn to hear and conform to an unfamiliar and therefore unappealing way that we don't want to go. A good picture is of a wild horse being broken and tamed. It is getting clearer as we go on and the animal starts to become more dim, as it rules us less and the life of the Father and Son rules us more.
That's the way it has to be, because this life is just a dim reflection of what will be, and the time when our love and faithfulness to the Father is tested so that the dross, which is our wildness that is unfamiliar and therefore naturally hates God because it's afraid of Him, falls away. For the animals this life is about living it out and aspiring to as much of its bounty as they can possible get in the many different ways they survive (not just physically). For the sons it is about finding their Father and abandoning everything else, seeing things according to their proper value (as the firstborn Son saw them as is reflected in the preserved record) and aspiring to that. The copy and reinforcement of that is everywhere in the OT—so many accounts of testing the sons so they understand what is valuable and not.
This morning (in 2005) when I woke up I realized that all of Paul's life in the spirit was about finding the safe place and enduring. Even at the end of it he still had to work at enduring and overcoming. It's not a life filled with the notion of making it or arriving, like we are retired or have attained a place where finally we can rest. That is the lie of the snake and the way of the animal. It can only hope for things in this life—milestones, attainments, the time when they can enjoy themselves and be set free from what has constantly bound them all their lives. "If we just had enough money to buy this, or move there, or stop working, etc." That is the way the animal nature taught us to satisfy and fulfill ourselves, by the thought—the hope—of getting this or that, of going here or there, of being or moving to another place with new dreams and new hopes; of having and keeping a certain honorable reputation, etc. So many ways that the humans are and aspire to is because of that animal nature that rules them undetected.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered. Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them.
The humans are never free. Slavery wasn't uncommon in the day that the NT was written. The way of the animal was even more apparent and its workings in everyday life way more transparent. In modern times slavery seems like an outrageous idea on the surface and it's usually not tolerated except in "backward" countries where the modern ways of the animal aren't able to be enforced. It actually happens all the time within the culture of the humans, yet is covered up as if to look like something totally reasonable. The humans constantly trade things that are valuable to them to someone else for something in return that is also valuable.
A slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.
That is slavery on a deeper, unnoticeable level of the animal, because it satisfies what the particular animals crave. Ego gratification, valuable positions, money, sex, acceptance, security, safety, etc. are all created out of the fear that is a component of that nature which keeps them bonded to the earth. Everyone considers themselves so free, but they're in a total bondage to this nature that keeps them in the constant fear of dying, or having their "things' taken away from them, or losing anything they hold on to and cherish like their pride, esteem, reputation, etc.
I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
That's just the surface though. The reason it happens, that people are the way they are is because of that secret undercurrent of the nature that rules all of the humans. It keeps them in a bondage to its needs and cravings that are inherent to all of the mature animals, once they become mature. There is no coming away from its bondage, no matter what the religious people say, because they don't even know what it is in the first place. The few who are chosen to be sons first of all will start to see and recognize it for what it is, and realize the power it has over them. Then they slowly start to come away from its power over them, coincident with their growth and development in the invisible area, hidden to the rest of the humans.
Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
What the sons learn is that the real treasure isn't found in this world. It isn't in family, lovers, things, honorable identities or anything that the humans run after to attain to or get for themselves so they can survive better or longer. It is the solitary condition of a relationship with their true Father, also not found in the world or anything the world has to offer. The happiness, satisfactions and fulfillment that the sons learned to harvest by the old way start falling off, as they find less and less an ability to find comfort in them as before. In the slow movement of their transformation, their aspirations and dreams start to all form around that one hope—to find and know the love of the Father by being in an actual relationship with Him. Their existence becomes not filled with the old hopes and the goings about of man as they were before, when they were only searching for the Father and their true identity—which was put into them to search for. Now that they understand that their true identity isn't anywhere in the world of the humans, that world is not important. The way they declare it isn't important is in just finding quiet places away from the humans and all the chaos they bring so they can listen to and hear the voice of the Father, who isn't in that world of the humans, as they assume.
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
It is such a valuable thing to be able to hear the Father's voice that it isn't easily attainable, much to the contrary of those who claim to have found it because they think it's so cheap and easy that anyone can get it, as though the knowledge of God's love were some kind of invaluable thing because it's so available to anyone and everyone. They think they can enjoy all of the benefits of the animal nature and also find God. They think they can be an unclean animal with all its filth and chaos, and also be in the presence of a holy God. They think they can hold on to all the lies in their hearts , all the chaos and dirt, crapping everywhere as animals do, and also live in His house, which remains untouched by the animal because He is holy and clean.
Anything that comes into His presence has to be consecrated and made holy. That is done in the son by the Teacher who purges the animal nature out of the sons so they can be holy and pure, and able to know their Father because they can come near Him instead of having to be separated from Him because they're unclean. The spirit that we have living in us is a deposit, guaranteeing to us that we are his. Now that we are his, we slowly see and understand a new thing, that we have a new enemy we have to fight. It is our self, our old man who we used to be, who was always able to do whatever he wanted. It is the nagging old man, the enemy of God, the thing that separates us from the love of our Father. If we abide in Jesus we will have a certain joy of knowing that the spirit gives us as we move closer to our Father's love. It is a constant miracle in us, like a heartbeat. It tells us that we are God's in the deepest part of our being where only the spirit can reach.
The old way of the humans—the animal nature living in us—is represented by the cities and kings that Joshua slew in chapter 10, and by Isaiah's prophesies against Babylon, Assyria and the Philistines in chapter 14. One day everything that sets itself up against God will be gone, for which all these peoples are metaphors for our instruction and edification. Paul knew that these enemies existed in the form of spiritual forces within him that never went away. He used metaphors about fighting wars and running races to speak to what Jesus commanded his 11 in John 15. It is about abiding and enduring, and the two go hand in hand. We cannot do one unless we are also doing the other.
But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
The sons know about the life of the Son (the Teacher) abiding in them, that it was the only way to endure to the end. Abiding in the Son, and the Son abiding in the sons is the only way to endure, to move toward the Father. The life of the Teacher is now secret and invisible, and is hidden in the Father, living that secret life that nobody can see, teaching through the unheard voice that nobody can hear. It is easy for natural man to endure, because he just lives out his life like any ordinary animal until he dies, getting whatever he can along the way. He does this and that, pursues money and dreams and the love of the world. When a man is born by God he is born into a whole new understanding of living and dying, and he must unbecome a man—a mature, dead animal.
...unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Teaching about the new way is in metaphor form because we cannot understand these things with this natural mind of ours. Each day we get closer to realizing who we are as we get more mature and in touch with the spirit, and less mature, out of step with the natural order of things. The sons become regarded as out of their minds because of that condition, speaking about invisible and secret things as though they were actually real. Even the religious people, who mix their own version of God with the natural, consider them fanatics and "over the top," because their concept of God is directly challenged by everything that is in the son—the life, wisdom and truth of the only living God existing in their body as He existed in Jesus', and the animal can't stand to be around the true God. It is uncomfortable there and wants to kill the sons, to put them out of their midst, anything but have to face the question that their gods are made up and controlled by them according to their animal needs and desires.
It is always a struggle and a fight because the old nature is so pervasive and the struggle doesn't end until we cease. We don't receive the spirit and then everything gets easy, as though we had retired from this life or something. We get born, and then we slowly grow up into the new life of the spirit. He teaches us how to accept the right and reject the wrong, and the right is abiding in Jesus, in keeping our heart constantly turned toward our Father and away from the snake, who will be there around every corner, tempting us with his lies that this thing or that thing can satisfy us, that we don't need to wait for our Father to give us what we need.
The lie that we can be satisfied with the things that the world runs after will cause us to stumble when we are young, because things like sex, worldly love, acceptance, self-promotion, ego gratification and the allure of money will still be a huge part of our nature so we're blind an unwilling to conform to the new way that embraces none of any of that. All we'll know is that we have something, but it won't be as we assume because the egotistical cravings are still very strong within us, and mixed in with anything good that's been initiated. As we mature we see the value of these things as we never could before. We see how we are in prison to them and can't even know it, and we see that allowing them to continue now in our lives will stunt us like a malnourished child. That is a very advanced view, one developed over many years of being taught by the spirit instead of the snake.
He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
The land represents what the Father has wanted from the beginning, a place to live with His son(s) in peace, unencumbered by all the crap and chaos of the animal nature. A place where He can just enjoy His son(s), walking amongst them in the cool of the morning. He doesn't want a scared animal for a son, like a feral tomcat, but a soft little purring kitten who just wants to love Him and be loved. That may seem like sort of a naive thing to say, but that's because we are all so hardened and self-protective, because we know how we must be to survive in the world filled with animals that would sooner cut us down than be nice to us, unless we have something to offer them, a reason to be nice.
The LORD will have compassion on Jacob;
once again he will choose Israel
And the house of Israel will possess the nations
as menservants and maidservants in the LORD's land.
Isaiah's Babylon references should be interpreted in the light of what he was saying in his prophesies about the Messiah who was going to bring and institute the new covenant. All of the nations who were used by God to oppress His people—Babylon, Egypt, Assyria, etc—are just the copy for the sons of the animal nature that oppresses all the sons, for testing and purification——and out of that oppression He will bring them all. It is there for a reason, to create the heart in them that He wants them to have. Everything about what God is doing with His sons and the way He does it is so far above the animal's ability to comprehend that we only have these metaphors in the earthly reality that we can understand, which represent the spiritual reality. Until we're spiritual that's all we can know.
This life is about learning to trust our Father, that He has said the things we think He has said, and is leading us according to the voice inside us that the world can't hear, and won't validate in us. We can't look to it as the humans do for our validation, because it won't happen. It doesn't/can't/won't hear His voice. Either we believe or don't believe what we think and know is true on a level that can't be validated by any of the humans unless they are also a son, unless they can hear the same voice we hear.
On the day the LORD gives you relief from suffering and turmoil and cruel bondage, you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon:
How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!
