Numbers 15 / Proverbs 11 / Luke 24
Speak to the Israelites, and you shall say to them that they should make them a fringe on the skirts of their garments for their generations and place on the fringe of the skirt an indigo twist. And it shall be a fringe for you, and you shall see it and be mindful of all the LORD's commandments and you shall do them.
The specified requirements and commandments aren't for human reasons, so that the humans can establish themselves as the group who has the better God than all the other gods in the world. The thought that the Israelites could become a kingdom of priests and a holy nation may seem to have been idealistic and it was, because in actuality the Israelites were sort of doomed from the beginning since they were infested with the nature that keeps them from realizing that ideal for their God's sake. The instinct to survive is too powerful to fight, however they did have something available to them that the other nations hadn't had, which were the same knowledge of the miraculous and the specific requirements and commandments that were given specifically for them.
And you shall not stray after your heart and after your eyes, after which you go whoring. So that you will be mindful and do My commandments, and you shall be holy to your God. I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt to become your God. I am the LORD your God.
Those who wanted to fight that which kept them away from God, what nagged on their insides to satisfy the animal cravings inside them that welled up and made them want to indulge in what went directly against what God required may have gotten a special ability to fight that so that they didn't get carried off with the rest who strayed after their heart and after their eyes, after which they went whoring. Those about whom we can read were specifically chosen to have God's life put on them to receive an ability to do His purpose because they heard the voice and they responded by saying "Here I am, ready to do your will." There are others not written about who wanted to please God more than they wanted to indulge in their cravings to go whoring, more than they wanted to get something from Him. By their pure and honest desire to find what was hidden, they may have been given a special ability to see what the others couldn't, so that even the little that they had was turned into more, and what seemed impossible became just a little more possible. However, that is a particular thing that comes from God and it seems to never have been given en masse, so as to make it a generic king of deal. The opening of the mind and heart, even just a little, is a process of making the secret and hidden world of God just the tiniest bit opened to whomever that revelation is given.
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
This is the most incredibly secret truth about the living God, which says that for the humans in general there is no supernatural opening of the mind and heart to understand what the preserved words say, just because they want it or feel that they deserve to have it (because an "expert" told them, coupled with the innate feeling that they are so inherently good). To them it is like reading a cookbook or anything else—you read it, understand it, and then bake your cake, or adhere to whatever facts the "experts" tell you is necessary in order to get an eternal survival for yourself—what any animal would logically crave to have for itself and why they all feel like they're "going to heaven," or "being in the kingdom," or will be "delivered to paradise," or come back reincarnated in a better caste of society. The same way they read any book is true about how they read the preserved words; they read it, understand it, and do what it says. But that process begins and ends with the presumption that the words are for them, and can be understood as God would have them understood by anyone who reads whatever language they've been translated into. That's a big assumption, considering the miraculous ability of God to keep Himself hidden from the humans at large, even as is recorded in the same words. We know that the disciples who had lived with Jesus for three years didn't understand until he did this thing specifically for them, in that very instance and not before or after, so they could understand who he was. By understanding who he was, they could understand who they were—God's new group of chosen people, the newest copy of the family of His sons.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
The Messiah of Israel, the prophet predicted by Moses was now the Cornerstone of the building which was the representation of the family of God being built up like a building, stone by individual stone. No more a mass of humans to represent God's one true desire (to have a family); now He was choosing them individually by putting His life into their heart, His commands, laws and statutes as per Jeremiah 31 so that He could have an individual covenant with each one of them, which meant He could know them by name, by what was in their heart. The generic with generic commandments was never the intention of God as per how He wanted to interact with them, but it is what the humans made their relationship with the God of Israel into, on the whole because of the dictates of the animal instinct to always put themselves first, even above God whom they thought they could just put into a box and control for their own purpose, which is always the human tendency and assumption. They are arrogant little creatures and what makes them that way lives in their heart so it comes from inside and cannot just be divorced from by this or that thing they might do, which is another assumption that comes from the same place and thing that infests them.
The purpose was so that they could more fully be able to recognize and fulfill in the natural what He wanted from Israel, which wasn't done among them very well because the animal nature to individually survive was always too strong. That purpose is to have a family of brothers who were not humans in the sense that they were led by the nature that led all the other common animals. It is that they actually did love one another in real terms, not in concept while they were actually just living for themselves, trying to have their cravings satisfied and their fears appeased, pretending to be this other way while they were just being animals who only lived for themselves.
And the person who does it with a high hand, whether from the native or from the sojourner—he reviles the LORD, and that person shall be cut off from the midst of his people.
There were leaders appointed by God who had the authority to tell the people what to do in God's name, as one who was given this authority. The humans do not naturally like this or accept it because they think they should decide who will be the leader, and it's not accidentally them who is at the top of the list. God's appointee isn't easily recognized because that authority, just like the life, is hidden and secret. It is only recognized when they are made aware of the process that has been initiated by God and they are submitting themselves to it by giving up their right to have their own life and live it however they want to (as animals naturally do).
The true life of the only true, living God is a highly orderly one, without a trace of the chaos of human individualism. It is not a society of individuals like the humans form, calling it religion, where they have decided who the leaders will be (whoever aspires to become one, as one would become a banker or a shoe salesman). The leaders in God's society are chosen by Him, not on anything that could be detected by an external observation of the one who is chosen, which is a human way of assessing and deciding. God chose Noah to preserve a line of humans. He chose Abraham to be according to the purpose He had in mind as a thing He desired to do on the earth (create a copy of His deepest desire). He saved Israel's family by choosing to do it through one unlikely son of his. After a long period of waiting He raised up Moses to continue that purpose, at the appointed time, and chose Aaron to be His special servant at the very heart of this new society He was creating as per His specific purpose.
"Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " Then they remembered his words.
The way of God for the son is so different from and against the way of the humans that it cannot be understood or controlled, especially by the one to whom it is happening because it is not a democracy or a society of equals, as the humans like to think who are merely mimicking the way the society of humans around them thinks about how things should be. The society of God's secret sons is highly orderly, unlike that which the humans create now or in the past. The truth of God is so elusive and secret that Jesus' own disciples couldn't get or have it unless it was purposely and specifically given to them, so that they couldn't own and control it, which is the human tendency toward everything. They did not reach a point when they were able to say "Okay, we got it now," because we never get it. It's not ours to get or have, because if we had it to the point where we could control it, we would inevitably use it for evil, for ourselves.
They did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.
The disciples were dull, unclean animals who couldn't know or have the truth until what was promised was fulfilled. They didn't aspire to become leaders of God's community; that is the human way, one which they engaged in before when they were stifled in it by the Lord who taught them that God's way was opposite to the way of the humans.
A dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. You are those who have stood by me in my trials. And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
None of what was promised was fulfilled until the Lord went to be with the Father; only then was it available to be given to the men he came to save, and make leaders of this new society of God. To save from what? The grave, the earth, the ground that wanted to swallow them up forever. Just like Jesus was pulled out of hell (sheol, the grave), by the power of the Father to redeem him, that same power, after he ascended, would become available to those who were destined to become sons.
When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
Why did he have to go before the spirit could be sent to them? Because when he ascended to the Father, he became One with Him (the two became one flesh). After this happened, then Jesus had all the power of the Father available to him; exactly as the Father lived in his body while he was alive on the earth, Jesus now lived in those who were chosen by the Father. Not just Jesus, though, because the two had become One. The spirit was now the life of both the Father and the Son.
If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and we will make our home with him.
The same spirit which did His work in the body of the Lord was now the life not only of the Father, but of both the Father and the Son. That's what every good, responsible son does in taking upon himself the work of his father, which is the copy of the reality of Jesus and God, working together to do the ultimate work, which is the Father's will and desire—to have a family of sons who love Him and look forward to His coming. More importantly, they act like sons who have been given the guarantee that they are going to be remembered by the Father & Son to be redeemed from death into this family, which is above every other purpose that exists. That is they recognize and respect the leaders who have been given authority by God to create and maintain order in the family, not by their own human power, but by the authority that the humans can't see because they're blind.
Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! You have become kings--and that without us! How I wish that you had become kings so that we might be kings with you! For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men. We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored! To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.
The clear example is how the Corinthian believers didn't recognize Paul because they had chosen to go and act like mere humans, desiring to be personally distinguished by being a follower of a particular leader, even though those leaders hadn't solicited that. It was all in the minds of those Corinthians who wanted to belong to a more distinguished group that the others, which created chaos and dissension among the society of God, as though it were a human organization. While they did that they questioned Paul's authority because he didn't look outwardly like what they wanted to accept—as a human leader would appear. They were totally missing the point of how God worked and chose who would be leaders in His hidden society of sons—not as one who would even be recognized as such, as the humans recognize their self-appointed leaders.
That which was commanded for the Israelites, as God's purpose in the past, is still the copy for the sons, who still must have their minds opened to be able to understand the hidden truth beyond the written and preserved words so that it isn't like a cookbook which can be read and followed or a body of rules to be extracted and by which a human institution can function which one becomes a member of. The most basic flaw in the humans' religious systems that makes every one of them nullified by their own hand, is that they want to make their list of rules from the words about how they declare one can become "good" (how they can determine who is conforming to their control and who needs to be straightened out or kicked out); but they also want to pick and choose which ones to use and which of the others to ignore, because those are either inconvenient or impossible to adhere to.
Nothing we can do by our own power to hold onto any of the Lord's commandments can actually enable us to do it because we're inherently not good but helplessly evil since we're completely given over to what infests us. It doesn't matter whether we want to be infested by it or not, but that we are and we're not special, like we think in our hearts that we are, which comes from the thing that makes us the way we are—without any hope unless the revealing happens. We will think we can have some power to control our own situation because we feel that we must by instinct—the mysterious yet ubiquitous component of the egotistical and emotional craving to survive—over and over until we learn that we can't. Only being taken over by the power of the supernatural life of the Father and the Son living in our body, which cannot and will not be controlled by us, can we ever become aware of and them become the embodiment of the truth of the Father, as the firstborn Son was. We never control it because we would inevitably use it for our own good, to satisfy our own animal needs (like making rules so that we can kick out anyone from our institution who makes us feel uncomfortable, then feel justified in it because they broke the rules, while we ourselves break them every second and have no problem excusing ourselves because we don't break the rules). In other words, the little societies that the humans create and maintain by the human power of their consensus with one another is not the society of the sons of the living God.
Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death.
These words aren't for the humans, any more than Solomon actually wrote them by himself, for himself or any of his actual listeners. They were written for the Son of God, who rightly took them in to himself as such—and God was the author. Solomon himself actually loved wealth and riches, which was the beginning of the downward slide of the earthly kingdom of Israel. It is Solomon's life upon which the mark of the beast is based, upon the 666 talents of gold he collected each year, which is not accidentally tied up in commerce, the love of wealth, the ability to buy and sell.
What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight.
What the humans love is detestable to God, and what God loves is detestable to the humans, which is why the sons learn to love what the humans detest. They learn to spend their lives chasing after not what the pagans (mere men) chase after—money, wealth, fame, status, honor, respect, acceptance from other mere men, girlfriends, wives, positions, careers, families, houses, etc—but what is the most secret and hidden thing in the universe, and what is most valuable—to be found by God and given His name and mark as their true Father, totally hidden to the humans, known only to the other sons.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
That is everything. It is all the son needs, because it is what will redeem him from the grave. What the animals continually run after are merely things that will enhance their temporary existences. When their lives are gone, then so is the need for any of the things they spend their entire lives running after as though they were so valuable to them.
Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.
Only the love of God for His son, because he was found by his Father, chosen to be given His name, mark and seal, will be the thing that makes God act on His promise to redeem the son from the grave. That is the treasure he looks for, the knowledge of the truth of God's love, which is totally hidden from the humans, yet right under their noses. The secret power of the Father and Son is the only way that a man can be drawn to know the hidden truth. Every other attempt will be futile.
With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape.
Not the man's knowledge. Knowledge and wisdom as Solomon penned it but as God intended it was the supernatural enlightenment that happens to the son, which is the revealing of the Father to him so that he can hear the voice of Him who can teach him how to be transformed into one who is acceptable, or clean in the way it was truly intended to men, what all of the clean vs. unclean metaphors actually pointed at. It is not like anything that any of the humans think or presume to know or have, which cannot be true because it's all based on lies that other men made up about God, then instituted for their own sakes. Wisdom and knowledge according to God is the secret life of the hidden knowledge He put into Jesus the firstborn Son and savior of not all the humans, but the humans who are chosen to be saved from being and remaining merely one with the natural creation from which they came. It's what must be put into the son so he is taken through the process in the same way that the firstborn Son went through the process, or else there is no sonship. That effectively nullifies any thought that he existed before as some kind of god, no matter how good he may have been. In light of the process that the sons must go through, it's a joke to even think about that system of mythology that the world clings to. If he is to become a citizen of God's secret society, he must go through the secret process that the humans are ignorant of. It is not for the particular man's sake, but for the sake of the Father, to have His family of sons, which is His will.
You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.
Do not go about spreading slander among your people.
I am the LORD.
Our love for our brother cannot come from anything inherently good about the man as a man, because that's just the evil part of him, the unclean animal, which is unlovable. It is only because we recognize that he has been chosen by God to receive the gift of the deposit of redemption, which is only something his true brother will be able to recognize in him. God's secret society of brothers and sons is created and maintained by the secret power of His hidden life, which cannot be seen or recognized by the humans.
Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
One man gives freely, yet gains even more;
Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance.
This is why I speak to them in parables:
"Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
For this people's heart has become calloused;
